Are you your worst critic?
What was the last thing your inner voice had to say to you?
Was it glowing with praise or tinged with “you could do better” or “why didn’t you do…?”
How would you react if someone else said it to you?
Would you want to be their friend?
The chances are you wouldn’t tolerate much of what you say to yourself on a daily basis if it came at you from other people.
Improving your emotional intelligence helps you understand where these voices are coming from and to flip them into something a bit more supportive.
Do you spend a lot of energy managing or responding to other peoples behaviours?
Come on, we’ve all done it… You know someone that’s always saying one thing and doing another. You saw them the other day and they did it again. Did you save them? Did you help them explore why they are still stuck in the same rhetoric? Were you gentle with them? (After all, they are only human!)
Or, did you do the other human thing and judge them?
It’s OK, we have all done it. You have goals that you really want to achieve too but a myriad of things get in your way on a daily basis. The washing up, laundry or even sorting out the sock drawer holds more appeal than the important report that you really should be writing for work or the creative project that you say you want to do in your spare time.
I know you have had those days that were fuelled with great intentions at the start and dwindle into the oblivion of an undone, and ever-expanding to-do list with next-level expectations. Then look at what other people are up to and judge yourself unfairly, you are only human and deserve just as much compassion as the person you are looking sideways toward.
Do you rely on what other people say about you for approval?
Constantly looking sideways at what other people are doing, or seeking external approval uses up a lot of your precious time and energy.
When you improve your emotional intelligence you unveil the themes of the internal and external validation that you seek. It can reveal the root of elements of your personality you have adapted over time to cope and activate new beliefs to thrive instead.
It can hold the mirror up to you and unveil the best of you as well as the worst.
It can get to the root of themes that hold you back from being your best. However beware, much of what frustrates you in others can be things that you are actually frustrated within yourself!
An emotional intelligence profile allows you space to take a step back and observe any patterns that will help you unblock things that have kept you in a holding pattern if this is the case.
It clusters the 16 aspects of emotional intelligence into three areas:
behaviour
feelings
attitude
You can clearly see the areas that link together and it often triggers “aha” moments for clients that break their groundhog day routine. It expands your imagination for what’s truly possible for you and helps you activate more positive habits that create more of your ideal sweet days.
Are you ready for what you might find in the mirror?
