Heart Opening Book Club
Travel the world through the hearts and minds of some of the worlds most prescient thinkers on love, community, connection and growth.
We learn through stories and experiences of others and enjoy heart expanding exploration of them as we go.
Why Heart opening books?
The Heart Opening Book Club was born out of the divine realisation that several brilliant women I know were reading a heart-opening book by another brilliant woman alongside each other without knowing.
It struck me that powerful books like these need safe havens where we can reflect and expand on them.
Books about the varying yet equally common human condition globally, books written through the female gaze and stories told through different lenses and experiences around the world.
When I used to travel a lot I would read books written by authors that were from the places that I lived in or travelled through to help understand the people, customs and places I was experiencing better.
Reading more international writers helped me understand the true human impact of historical events, often in complete disparity to what I was taught growing up in the UK. It helped me cultivate more empathy and compassion with the people whose lands I was a guest, and connect with them on a deeper level.
The world needs new levels of empathy and understanding now more than ever. So the intention is that we expand our lens through those of other people, some of them will light a fire and activate, some will help us turn inward, and others will lift and connect us better with the people around us near and far.
Some will be fiction, some will not. You can opt in and out as you need to.
We meet the 2nd Thursday of every month at 19:30 UK time
